Billie Breland passed away in January at the age of 83. In recent years her short-term memory had faded but she loved to write notes.
“She wrote down funny things that happened or quotes she wanted to remember, all in the perfect cursive handwriting that could only belong to a school teacher,” her grandson Cliff Sims wrote in Alabama’s Yellowhammer News.
The last note she ever wrote was for her husband of 60 years. He found it tucked away inside her checkbook.
