The Birth Of The High-Tech Onesie
A Boston-based startup, Rest Devices, is working on what they call a smart baby nursery. Their first product is the Mimo, a onesie for infants that combines sensors for monitoring a baby’s respiration, pressure, moisture and temperature. This data is then transmitted to a base station and then into the cloud, where it can be viewed on tablets and smartphones and can be shared between parents and caregivers.
The Mimo onesies come in a starter pack of 3 onesies plus the base station for $199. After that, parents can buy packages of two onesies for $29. The company has already developed retail partnerships with Babies“R”Us and Amazon.
