Sonia Singh is a 34-year old mother from Tasmania who’s taken the world by storm with her Tree Change Dolls. The term “tree change” has become popular in Australia to describe people from cities seeking new and usually simpler life styles within Regional Australia.
Sonia’s Tree Change Dolls are rescued and rehabilitated dolls that she finds in second hand shops and flea markets. When she finds an old discarded doll she gives it what she calls a “make-under” – removing all the makeup and getting her mom to sew simpler attire. You can check out her blog for more details on the process.
“I just get a lot of satisfaction, she says, “taking something no-one wants and giving them a new lease on life.”
