Mikaila Ulmer is your average Texan 11-year-old except she just happens to have negotiated a multi-million dollar distribution deal for her recently launched BeeSweet Lemonade.
Using her Great Granny Helen’s recipe for honey-sweetened lemonade she is on a crusade to raise awareness for and protect endangered honeybees.
She wasn’t always such an advocate for bees though. When she was 4, Ulmer was stung by 2 bees in the same week. She naturally became extremely frightened of bees, so her parents suggested that she research them in the hopes of turning her fear into positive knowledge. “Something strange happened,” recalls Ulmer.
“I became fascinated with bees. I learned all about what they do for me and our ecosystem. So then I thought, what if I make something that helps honeybees and uses my Great Granny Helen’s recipe?”
What an impressive young woman…. you go girl!
